BBC Trust’s 5 year review of BBC Asian Network

In the autumn of 2011, BBC Trust undertook its 5 year review of the BBC’s Asian Network radio station.

In order to evaluate how the station was performing against its service licence requirements and listener needs, Ethnic Dimension was commissioned to conduct a major programme of research – designed to provide insight into the role the station plays in the cultural lives of its listeners and how far it fulfils its remit. This involved a series of group discussions, deliberative workshops and vox pops, as well as analysis of feedback of a public consultation process. The outcome - a detailed segmentation of the station’s listeners in terms how they engaged with the station and their specific needs.
