Infant Feeding and Weaning Research

Ethnic Dimension was asked by the Department of Health via the Central Office of Information (COI) to undertake a research study on baby and toddler nutrition amongst 5 BME communities. The research programme was designed to provide insight into the behaviours and practices around infant feeding and weaning, as well as the impact of cultural factors on these.

This was done using a combination of observational home visits and interviews with parents, group discussions with mothers and interviews with key health professionals.

Learnings from this research were to be used to help design interventions designed to help build healthy eating foundations in the early years.
